Saturday afternoon a couple of friends and I pulled card board boxes out of the trash, stole Sharpies from our respective work places, made protest art and went to the streets. It was a nice reminder that it doesn’t take much to to be an enga(y)ged citizen.
Four (sad looking) members of the Westboro Baptist Church made Gawker HQ one of their stops on their Fag Media Tour—it was so exciting I had to jump.
I arrived to Istanbul in the afternoon of May 30th. At around one in the morning I found myself racing for my camera to photograph thousands of people flooding down a main pedestrian boulevard chanting for the resignation of their prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
